# How do I assign an asset on the Check Sheet app?
## Assign a barcode to an asset once in the Check Sheet app using the Assign Asset button, before you can run inspections with that barcode.
Before you can complete an inspection with a barcode, you need to assign that barcode to an asset once in the Check Sheet app. After that, you go straight to running inspections without needing to assign again.

## How do I assign an asset on the Check Sheet app?
1. Download the Check Sheet App from the App Store or Google Play, and log in with your Argus Tracking login details.
2. Select the **Assign Asset** button to assign a barcode to an asset that hasn't been assigned before. This only needs to be done once per asset.
3. Select the asset you're assigning a barcode to, then scan the barcode you're assigning to it.
4. You'll receive confirmation that the barcode was successfully assigned to the asset.
## How do I know it worked?
The app confirms the barcode was successfully assigned. From then on, scanning that barcode on the app takes you straight to **Undertake Inspection** for that asset rather than asking you to assign it again.
