# How do I create a polygon geofence?
## A polygon geofence lets you draw a custom shape on the map by placing corner markers, instead of using the default circle shape.

## How do I create a polygon geofence?
1. From your dashboard, go to **Geofences \> Add New Geofences** and find the area you want to cover.
2. Once you've selected an address, click the **Type of Geofence** drop-down and select **Polygon Geofence**.
3. Click on the map where you want the first corner of your polygon to be — a marker appears at that point.
4. Keep clicking on the map to add corners and build the shape of your polygon. To adjust a corner after placing it, select and drag the marker to a new position.
5. (Optional) Change the geofence's colour from the **Geofence Colour** drop-down — options include aqua, blue, green, lime, purple and silver.
6. Select the asset or group the geofence should apply to — leave it as **All Assets** to apply it to your whole fleet. Enter a name for the geofence and choose when it should be active.
7. Click the blue **Save** button to save your polygon geofence.
## How do I know it worked?
The polygon shape you drew appears on the Geofences list and on the map in Spectate and View History, with the name you gave it, from the point it was created.
## What if it doesn't work?
If a marker lands in the wrong place, select and drag it rather than starting over — you don't need to redraw the whole shape. If the polygon option isn't available, confirm you've selected an address first; the **Type of Geofence** drop-down only appears once a location has been chosen on the map.
