# How do I set up a new group?
## Create an Asset Group or Geofence Group from My Assets, Settings, or an asset's Profile page.
Create a group from **My Assets**, **Settings \> Groups**, or from an individual asset's Profile page. Groups organise your assets and can restrict which of your users can see them.

## What you need before you start
- Administrator or Power User access is recommended for setting up groups that restrict user access.
## How do I set up a new group?
There are three places you can create a group — **My Assets**, **Settings**, and an individual asset's **Profile** page. The steps are the same wherever you start:
1. From **My Assets**, select the blue **Manage Groups** button — or from the side menu, select **Settings**, then **Groups** — or open an asset's **Profile** and select **Create a new group**.
2. On the groups page, select **Add Asset Group** to create a group of tracked assets, or **Add Geofence Group** to create a group of geofences.
3. In the pop-up, enter a name for the group, tick the assets (or geofences) you want to include, and select the blue **Create** button.
## How do I know it worked?
The new group appears in the list on the Manage Groups or Settings \> Groups page, and is available to select from the Groups field on any asset's profile.
## What if it doesn't work?
- **Not sure which type of group to create:** an Asset Group is a group of tracked assets, such as vehicles or plant. A Geofence Group is a group of geofences — for example homes or suppliers — and is used when running a Geofence Report.
- **Want to restrict a user to only see a group's assets:** apply the group to that user's profile under Settings \> Users and Drivers. Administrators can't be restricted to a group — they always see the whole account.
