# What is RUC Collect?
## RUC Collect detects off-road travel using your geofences and generates the NZTA RUCOR claim form automatically for EV, PHEV and diesel vehicles.
RUC Collect lets you claim back and refund off-road Road User Charges (RUC) travel for your EV, PHEV and diesel vehicles, without paperwork or extra hardware.

## What does RUC Collect do?
RUC Collect scans your off-road geofence areas, along with a broader off-road detecting method, to identify time your vehicles spent off-road. It then generates the NZTA RUCOR claim form automatically, for you to review and send — there's no set-up needed for the detection itself.
## What's automatic, and what isn't?
The sync of your current RUC licence's end distance from NZTA is automatic, as is RUC and rego purchasing under Smart eRUC, Smart Hubo and Smart Renew, run through our third-party RUC partner. Off-road claims work differently: licences must be entered into RUC Collect by you, they aren't imported from NZTA. Once entered, RUC Collect produces a RUCOR form and audit report automatically for you to verify before sending the claim on. Where a refund is due, the refund application itself is lodged with NZTA by our third-party RUC partner, not by Argus.
## Who uses RUC Collect and when would I use it?
RUC Collect is for any fleet running EV, PHEV or diesel vehicles that regularly travel off-road — for example, forestry, agriculture or construction work — and want to claim back RUC for that off-road distance.
## What do I need to use RUC Collect?
- Off-road geofence areas set up, so RUC Collect can detect off-road travel automatically.
- Your Off-Road Customer Number, found under **Settings \> Account Details**.
- Your RUC Distance Licence details, entered by you when you create a licence in RUC Collect.
