What you need before you start
- Access to the asset's Profile page in My Assets.
How do I change the name of an asset?
- From the sidebar, go to My Assets.
- Select the blue Profile button under the asset you want to update.
- Click the box next to Name and enter the asset's new name. You can use letters, numbers and dashes only — other characters aren't accepted.
- Click the blue Save button at the bottom of the fields to save your change.
How do I know it worked?
The new name appears immediately on the asset's card in My Assets, and is used going forward in any reports you run for that asset.
What if it doesn't work?
- Save button is greyed out or the name won't take: check you've only used letters, numbers and dashes — other characters, including spaces at the end, are rejected.
- You want to use the driver's name instead of the registration: that's fine — some customers name assets after the driver, the vehicle type, or a nickname; there's no fixed convention.
By default, a newly installed asset is named after its vehicle registration. This article doesn't cover adding a photo to the same profile — see how to add a photo to your vehicle. If the Save button doesn't respond at all, contact Argus support.
