How do I create a custom user level profile
Administrators can build a Custom user profile from Settings > Users & Drivers by switching on individual feature permissions with the toggle sliders.
If a user needs access to specific areas of the platform that aren't covered by a default user profile, you can build a Custom user profile for them from Settings. It takes a few minutes and applies immediately once saved.
Also known as / customers also ask: custom user profile, custom permissions, custom user level, create a custom role, user permission profile, restrict user access
What you need before you start
- You need Administrator access to create or edit user profiles.
- Decide in advance which features the user should be able to see or use — the default profiles (Administrator, Power User, Everyday User, Reporter, Spectator, Compliance, Dispatcher, Driver) may already cover what you need. See the different Argus user profile levels.
How do I create a custom user level profile?
- From the Argus Dashboard sidebar, go to Settings, then select Users & Drivers.
- On the Users and Drivers page, select the blue Add button to add a new user.
- Under User Profile, select Custom from the dropdown list of profiles.
- A permissions panel opens, listing each feature as a slider. Select the sliders for the features you want this user to see or use. A slider turns blue when the feature is turned on for that user.
- Select the blue Save button to save the permissions.
- Fill in the user's remaining details, such as name and email address. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required.
- Select the blue Save button again to save the new user.
How do I know it worked?
The new user appears in the Users and Drivers list with a profile of Custom. When that user signs in, they'll only see the features you switched on for them.
What if it doesn't work?
- The Custom option isn't in the User Profile dropdown: check you're signed in as an Administrator — only Administrators can create or edit user profiles.
- Save is greyed out or won't complete: check every field marked with a red asterisk has been filled in.
- The user can't see a feature you switched on: ask the user to sign out and back in, since permission changes apply from the next sign-in.
