How do I set up a geofence alert?

Set up a geofence alert from Geofences > Geofence Alerts to be notified by email or app when a vehicle enters or exits a geofence.

A geofence alert notifies you by email or app when a vehicle enters, exits, or otherwise moves in relation to a geofence. You set one up from the Geofences menu.

Also known as / customers also ask: geofence alert, geofence notification, entry exit alert, geofence enter exit notification, geofence stationary alert

How do I set up a geofence alert?

  1. From the side menu, select Geofences, then Geofence Alerts. The Create New Alert page opens.
  2. Select the geofence you want to set the alert on.
  3. In the Label box, give the alert an easily identifiable name.
  4. From the Send Alert To drop-down, choose who should receive the alert.
  5. In the Asset movement box, choose which type of activity should trigger the alert — for example, entering or exiting the geofence.
  6. Use the Email and App toggles to choose how the alert should be sent.
  7. Click the blue Save button to create your alert.

How do I know it worked?

The alert appears in your list of active geofence alerts, and you'll receive it by the method you chose the next time the asset movement you selected happens inside that geofence.

What if it doesn't work?

If you're not receiving the alert, check that at least one of the Email or App toggles is switched on, and that the recipient selected in Send Alert To is correct. If the alert still doesn't fire, confirm the vehicle actually crossed the geofence boundary — geofence alerts are based on the vehicle's recorded position, not its intended route.

This article doesn't cover setting up a stationary alert specifically — see how to set up a vehicle stationary alert — or the full list of notification types — see what notification types are available.
