RUC Collect lets you claim back your off-road RUC travel for EV, PHEV and diesel vehicles: you create a licence, review your trips, and RUC Collect generates the NZTA claim form automatically for you to check, download and send.

What you need before you start
- Access to Fleet Management > RUC Collect in the Argus Dashboard.
- Your RUC Distance Licence or ticket details, to enter licence readings yourself — RUC Collect only syncs the end distance of your current licence from NZTA, not the licence number or other details.
- Your Off-Road Customer Number, found under Settings > Account Details if you don't already have it.
How do I create a new RUC licence in RUC Collect?
- Select the Asset dropdown and choose the asset, for example a specific vehicle.
- Enter your RUC Licence No.
- In the To Hubodometer and From Hubodometer fields, enter the licence start and end readings shown on your RUC Distance Licence.
- Enter the start date — the date it switched from one ticket to another, or the date you purchased the RUCs — as accurately as possible, then select Create.
How do I claim back my off-road RUC travel?
- Select the Claim tab, then select your asset and the licence you created.
- Review the trip information shown, including registration, start time, location and end time. If any trip is invalid, select Is Valid to turn it off so it's excluded from the claim, then select Add to Claim. You can only claim on a licence that's already been completed — its current distance recorded must be greater than its start reading.
- Enter your Off-Road Customer Number, select your Reason Code, and write a short description of your trips, then select Claim Licences.
- Check your bank details, type your name, sign in the signature box, tick I Understand, then select Submit.
What happens after I submit my claim?
RUC Collect generates your claim automatically as a RUCOR form and an audit report — both are also emailed to you. Review both for accuracy, then send your completed application yourself to NZTA at admin.RUCassessments@nzta.govt.nz. Where a refund is due, the refund itself is lodged with NZTA by our third-party RUC partner, not by Argus. NZTA can only process claims where the licence is less than 24 months old.
How do I view my RUC Collect history?
Select the History tab, choose the asset and a start and end date, then select Search to see previous licences, distances, claims and audit reports.
How do I know it worked?
Your generated RUCOR form and audit report appear in your email and under the History tab. If you haven't sent your form to NZTA yet, download a copy for your records first.
What if it doesn't work?
You made a mistake before sending to NZTA: select Reset Claim to start again — this only works before you've sent the form on.
A trip looks wrong in your claim: off-road trips are checked continuously, not only when the licence is first created, so a trip recorded after your first calculation is still picked up and corrected, including a vehicle that stays off-road for more than a day before returning.
