What is Smart View in Travel History?

Smart View is turned on by default in Travel History and shows a condensed set of key events instead of every recorded point.

Smart View is the default setting in Travel History that condenses a vehicle's daily events down to the key movements, so you can review a trip without scrolling through every recorded point.

Also known as / customers also ask: detailed view, condensed travel history, why are there fewer points on the map, smart view toggle, travel history filter, missing events in history

What does Smart View do?

Smart View filters a vehicle's Travel History down to the points that matter: the start and end of activity for the day, and the key movements in between. Instead of showing every position update the vehicle has sent, it shows a condensed set of events built from ignition and movement data.

How does Smart View work?

Smart View uses a mix of time and distance filtering. It shows the 10 events recorded before the first Ignition On for the day, every event between the first Ignition On and the last Ignition Off (limited to one event per minute or every 500 metres travelled, whichever comes first), and the 10 events recorded after the last Ignition Off. Frequent position updates sent while the vehicle is stationary are reduced to key moments rather than shown in full.

What is Detailed View, and how is it different?

Detailed View turns Smart View off and shows every recorded event for the day without filtering. It's useful for in-depth investigations or audits where you need to see every point the vehicle sent, rather than a condensed summary.

Who uses Smart View, and when would I use it?

Smart View suits day-to-day review of long trips with hundreds of events, general route analysis, and a first look at a specific stop or incident. Switch to Detailed View when you need every recorded point — for example, during a detailed investigation or audit.

How do I get started with Smart View?

Smart View is turned on by default the first time you open Travel History for a vehicle. Open Travel History from Spectate, then use the Smart View toggle next to the filter controls to switch between Smart View and Detailed View — your selection is remembered for the current session. For the full steps to open and export Travel History, see the View History Report.
