What events does the Vision AI camera detect?
The Vision AI dashcam detects road-facing (ADAS) events, driver-facing (DSC) events, and vehicle/device events, uploading a clip when one is detected.
The Vision AI dashcam uses onboard AI to detect a set of safety and risk events, split into road-facing (ADAS) events and driver-facing (DSC) events, plus vehicle and device events. When one is detected, the camera uploads a short evidence clip to Argus.

What do Vision AI event types do?
Each event type is a specific pattern the camera's onboard AI is trained to recognise, from a following-too-close warning to signs of driver fatigue. Footage is continuously recorded on the device using loop recording; only the clips linked to a detected event are uploaded to Argus. The camera is a safety and coaching tool, designed to identify risk and support driver coaching, not to provide continuous live-streaming or a full permanent video archive on the platform.
How do Vision AI event types work?
Road-facing (ADAS) events relate to the vehicle's surroundings, detected by the road-facing camera: Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Collision Warning, Tailgating Detected, Stop Sign Violation, Blind Spot Detection (Front Close, Left and Right), GPS Signal Lost, and Camera Obstructed.
Driver-facing (DSC) events relate to in-cabin behaviour, detected by the driver-facing camera: Fatigue Detected, Drowsiness Detected, Distracted Driving, Phone Usage While Driving, Smoking Detected, and Seat Belt Not Fastened.
Vehicle and device events relate to the vehicle and the device itself, detected by either camera: Harsh Acceleration, Harsh Braking, Harsh Cornering (Left and Right), Power Supply Issue, and Unauthorised Shutdown.
Who uses Vision AI event types, and when would I use them?
Fleet managers and safety-focused roles use event types to filter and review what's happened in the fleet, for coaching, incident investigation and safety reviews.
What do I need to use Vision AI event types?
A Vision AI plan with at least one Vision AI-equipped vehicle. This is the shipped detection set for the Vision AI dashcam; fine-tuning individual event detection is managed on the device side and isn't a customer-configurable setting within Argus.
How do I get started with Vision AI event types?
Open the Vision AI events screen to see events as they're detected — see how to review Vision AI events. Voice alerts and individual event captures (for example Distracted Driving, Seat Belt Not Fastened, or Phone Usage While Driving) can be turned off per camera on request to Argus support — this isn't a self-service change, it's pushed to the camera remotely and takes effect from the vehicle's next trip once the camera is online and the push succeeds.
This article doesn't cover getting footage for a specific incident — see how to get camera footage after an incident. It also doesn't cover the camera's data allowance — see the Vision AI data allowance. If you want to change which events or voice alerts are active on a camera, contact Argus support.
