What can each Argus user role do?
A comparison of what each of the eight Argus Tracking user roles can access, from Administrator down to Driver.
Argus Tracking has eight user role profiles, each giving access to a different set of features. This article lists what each role can and cannot do, in alphabetical order, so you can pick the right profile when you set up a user.

Administrator
- Can: access everything available within your plan on the Argus platform. It's the only profile that can add new users and drivers to the account. On the Omni plan, Administrators can also view user activity, including each user's last login time. This role suits the account holder or business owner.
- Cannot: access features outside what your plan includes — plan availability still applies even to Administrators.
Compliance
- Can: access Fleet Management, Notifications, and the Check Sheet app (including Check Sheet Templates) through the Fleet Management app. This profile suits tracking vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Cannot: add new users or drivers to the account — only the Administrator profile can do this.
Dispatcher
- Can: access Job Management, My Assets, Spectate, Vision AI, Notifications, the Check Sheet app and the Fleet Management app. This profile suits dispatching jobs to the next address.
- Cannot: add new users or drivers to the account.
Driver
- Can: access the Check Sheet app only, to carry out regular digital inspections of a vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Cannot: access the Argus Tracking web platform at all — the Driver profile is app-only.
Everyday
- Can: access the Dashboard, Asset Profiles, Reporting, Driver Behaviour and Geofences. This is the most common role, suited to users who need the basics.
- Cannot: add new users or drivers to the account.
Power User
- Can: access everything except administration control. This role suits users who order new GPS hardware and arrange installs or removals.
- Cannot: add new users or drivers to the account, or access administration control — that's reserved for the Administrator profile.
Reporter
- Can: access Reporting, Notifications, the Check Sheet app and the Fleet Management app. This profile suits office roles that oversee company reports.
- Cannot: add new users or drivers to the account.
Spectator
- Can: access Spectate, Vision AI, the Check Sheet app, the Fleet Management app and Notifications. This profile suits keeping track of where vehicles are, to dispatch the closest person to a job.
- Cannot: add new users or drivers to the account.
Which role can add a new user?
Only the Administrator profile can add new users and drivers to an account.
Which role has app-only access, with no website login?
The Driver profile. Drivers use the Check Sheet app only and do not get web platform access.
Which roles can see Vision AI?
Of the eight roles, Dispatcher and Spectator explicitly include Vision AI access. Administrators have access to everything available within their plan, which includes Vision AI where the account is subscribed to it.
Which role suits someone who only needs to run reports?
The Reporter profile — it's built for office roles that oversee company reports, without the wider access of Everyday or Power User.
